The End

In the end of the book, Montag meets a secret society of people who dedicate their lives to keeping books as part of our society. In that society everybody is responsible for reading and remembering an entire book to spread it out to the world in the future. This shows that using censorship will never work because the people will never give up on what they truly believe is right. You can see that with gay people today, even though people make fun of them and tell them that they have no right to get married to one another they don't give up. They stay as strong as they were before and they keeping on fighting for what they think is right.

Censorship

Censorship in Our World

In Fahrenheit 451, the main theme is censorship and how it can affect a world as a whole. Today we see censorship mostly in things such social norms. An example of this censorship is gay and lesbian wedding in most states of the United States of America. They don't allow these kinds of people to be married just because they think that it is not normal. In the book Fahrenheit 451 people are not allowed to read books because the government does not think that it is right. This kind of censorship really hurts people and how they are.. I do not think that censorship should be part of our world.

The Banning of Books

The main purpose of Fahrenheit 451 is to discuss censorship and how it affected the life of many people that actually wanted to read these books. To this day we still see this censorship going on with banned books. The book Fahrenheit 451 is actually a banned book. When a book gets banned it affects a lot of people such as the author, the family and friends of that author, and the people that had an interest or a deep connection with the book. I strongly encourage anyone of you who enjoy reading about rebellious people to read this book because you will really like it.

Introduction: Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 was written by Ray Bradbury in 1953. This book talks about a city in the future where books are illegal and the firemen's primary job is to go around and burn books. Bradbury wrote the book during the McCarthy era, when censorship was starting to be a problem and the threat of eradicating books was rising. Ray Bradbury took quite some time to name his book but he finally found the name when he figured out what the temperature for burning paper was Fahrenheit 451.

I chose this book because when I went to go ask Ms. Hall, the school librarian, what would be a good book for this project, this is what she gave me. She said that she thought it would be perfect for me because it has a lot of suspense and it will keep me wanting more.
